DO YOU NEED A CUSTOM STENCIL?
If you need a custom stencil the quickest response is by sending an email to gary@rubyredpaint.com
We can make your stencil whether you want 1 or 10,000 but like most purchases, the more you buy, the lower the cost. One thing
for sure is you can get a stencil delivered on time and most likely through us at a lower price than anywhere else as we have our
own design team and we make them in-house on our own lasers.
As a general rule the setup charge for a stencil is $30. If you are buying in volume, we wave the setup charge. If you are making a
number of custom stencils then we often give discounts on the setup charge. Sometimes, if your stencil is fairly simple we can
give you a better price on setup. Send us your design for a firm price on setup.
Next you need to determine the material you want your stencil made of. For face painting, crafts and air brushing most of the
time people want a mylar stencil. Mylar is the standard as they are durable and easy to clean. These are multi-use stencils that
can be used hundreds of times if you care for them. For face painting and crafts the standard material is blue .007” thick as it is
the perfect blend of durability and flexibility. In the air brush industry most prefer a stiffer and more durable milky-white .01”
mylar. There is also the option of .005” (thinner, more flexible) or super flexible .007” vinyl. If you need a stencil that will very
easily mold to a curved surface like in body painting then the vinyl is the way to go. There is also the option of peel and stick
vinyl but just know that those tend to be single use stencils.
In regards to size there is a cost of $10 for one stencil in any of the formats above for low volume as long as the stencil is smaller
than letter size. Tell us how many you need per stencil as once you get past 10 stencils of the same design the price starts to
drop. We can make the mylar stencils much larger but the cost is higher.
On the design, ask for the “Suggested Guidelines for Stencils” which can be emailed to you. We want you to have a good
working stencil and the guidelines will help. Some folks like to make extremely complicated stencils and if they get too busy,
they will be hard to use and will not be as durable. We like the saying “you can’t fit an elephant in a breadbox” and that applies to
stencils. We would rather turn down the order than give you a stencil that is going to be too hard to use. The typical cheek art
design is about 2 inches at the largest part. Small holes, lines ro connecting parts smaller than .1” tend to be problematic.
On stencils, the standard or default border is .75” all the way around. If you want it larger or smaller then specify your desire.
If your stencil is a trademark, sports logo, copyrighted or company logo then you must either own the rights or you have
secured the rights to use the image. We have made stencils for the NFL to Disney but you must sign off a legal waver. If you are
doing something along this line then ask for the legal form. Most of the time you can secure limited permission for this. A good
example is if you are going to be doing face paint at a college football bowl game it is fairly easy to secure limited use permission
for the logo. We just want to make sure we and you are not going to get into legal trouble.
The art setup charges are non-refundable as we have already used our time to create the design.
So the process is you need to email us the image you wish to be converted into a stencil. Send it to gary@rubyredpaint.com .
Tell us how many stencils you want. We then will give you firm pricing. If you agree we charge your credit card for the order. We
then will create the stencil and send you a digital proof. Once you approve the proof, we make and ship your stencil. If we send it
by mail the shipping is $5.00. If we send it ground UPS it is $14.00. When we send you a proof, that is the time to make any design
requests. We will allow you two rounds of changes with no additional cost. After that we charge more on the setup.
On timing we usually can turn around your stencil in 24 hours or one business day IF YOU PROMPTLY APPROVE THE DIGITAL
PROOF AND YOU HAVE PAID. Any delay on your part will delay your order.
Once we have done your design, you can reorder duplicates without again having to pay for the setup as long as it has not been
more than three years. After that we probably have erased the art file.
If you need mylar stencils in high volume, we know of no one that can match our volume pricing. If it is a private label stencil, you
can be assured that the stencil will not be sold to anyone else.
